FAQ
Popular Questions

Unfortunately, when you aren’t familiar with a good income tax preparer, or you’ve had a bad experience in the past, you can be left with more questions than answers.

1. What's the company motto?

The company motto comes from my very respected friend who put into words what I’ve known for my whole life.

If you help others get what they want, you’ll always get what you want.  – Alex Bonds

2. Do I really need a professional tax preparer?

I didn’t realize how much people needed a professional tax preparer until one day when I was at work and I met a client who had done their own taxes using some popular retail software.  They didn’t understand why they owed and they asked me to review it.  The couple were intelligent, hard-working people.  They had entered their home mortgage interest as interest income, rather than as interest deduction.  I asked them why the did that and the wife replied, “the software asked about interest, so, I typed it in.”  I fixed it and instead of owing $2,000, they got a $2,000 refund.  They are clients for life now.

3. When should I receive my refund?

Welcome to 2021.  Nobody knows for sure.  The IRS says, “The IRS anticipates a first week of March refund for many EITC and ACTC taxpayers if they file electronically with direct deposit and there are no issues with their tax returns.”

4. Can I walk out on my tax preparer?

Yes, you can walk out on your tax preparer if you don’t like the results, don’t like their attitude, don’t feel like they are working for you, or even for no reason at all.  While Brian was working at the retail tax preparation firm, he had to watch a particular co-worker who was not watching out for the client’s interest, but the clients were just too trusting.  It was difficult to watch but management didn’t want to resolve his selfishness.

5. Can my tax preparer hold my tax papers hostage?

No, that’s against the law.  Your tax preparer cannot hold your tax papers hostage.  It’s a common situation where you give your tax papers to your preparer and then have any doubts about completing your taxes with them.  They have to return your papers without asking for any fee (as long as they haven’t efile your taxes)

6. How can I choose the best professional tax preparer for me?

The IRS provides the best answer.  Like hiring anyone to do work for you, it’s a tough decision.
